We are excited to step into a new season as a church, with construction and development beginning on our building, The Commons! Our vision is for this to become a hub of difference-makers doing good throughout the city of Richmond—with Jesus at the center of it all. The heart behind this space has always been to serve our community, which is how our tagline, “For the good of Richmond,” came to be!

Plans are already underway, beginning with an upstairs remodel of our kids’ area. This includes new windows in every room (hello, sunlight!) and creating space for our Hill City Day School—welcoming over 100 kids into our building. There are more phases to come, and our heart behind every aspect of construction and improvement is to bless and impact our community.

So, you may be wondering: how can I get involved? We’d love for everyone who calls Hill City home to be part of this story. If you missed the message from Wags sharing the vision, take a moment to watch it and hear how we’re stepping forward in faith—pledging, giving, and believing in what only God can do through us, together.

HOW TO GIVE

Our goal is to raise 10 million dollars over the next 3 years.
We have already raised 2.2 million!

Below, you’ll find a link to make a pledge over the next three years for our Building Fund. As you go through the form, you’ll have the option to commit to either a total pledge amount or break it down into a monthly commitment over three years.

What’s the purpose of the pledge? It’s really to help designate our giving towards the Commons, to help us reach our goal.

Once you set up your pledge you can start your giving through Pushpay by indicating ‘Building Fund’ in the fund dropdown.

THE COMMONS

For the good of Richmond.

FAQs

  • No, we are not changing our name. The Commons will be its own separate entity. The Hill City name will remain intact, we will just meet at "The Commons”.

  • We want to have partners in the building that have a heart to make Richmond better by what they do. There will be a concentration on things that center on the mind, body and soul. Of course Jesus and the church (Hill City) will be a centering point as a foundational piece. We will be working with organizations who embody that same kind of heart and vision for the city.

  • We are entering into Phase 1 of the plan which will consist of a renovation of the entire kids area as well as a facelift to the outside of the building. As we continue to raise funds we will take steps into Phase 2 and updates will be given as we receive drawings from our architects.

  • As of right now we have not been given any indication we will be displaced. Will there be some disruptions? Yes! However, we should be fully operational on Sundays and we will all have fun navigating the new ways we will have to get from point A to point B throughout the building!

  • The Hill City Day School will be under the umbrella of Hill City but fully operate on its own with a separate staff, budget, board and licensing. Eventually we will be moving the Day School to The Commons as well.

  • Yes, sports will continue in the building. What that will look like in the future is still unknown as we are in the planning phase. But there is a desire to have sports as a part of the future of The Commons.

  • We will not have any new parking. The spots closer to the building will continue to be for those who need assistance, families with small kids and first time guests. Other than that, if you are able bodied, enjoy the steps with those legs the good Lord gave you!

  • YES! As we start to decorate and build furniture for the day school/kids areas we will have plenty of opportunities to help out and all get annoyed together at the engineers from Ikea. We will forever be bonded in our anger and sense of accomplishment in the face of all odds.

  • In the near future we will not be hiring. As things progress with development it is possible that positions could become available.
